Party Pokers' claim to fame is that they are the largest on-line poker room in the world, often they have more than 70,000 players playing at a time. Party Poker also offers more modest tournaments for those who don't want to wait for these mega tournaments. Single and multi-table Sit and Go tournaments are offered, so a player can enter a tournament whenever they feel like playing rather than having to wait for the start of a regular tournament. Party Poker also offers a group of tournaments known as STEP tournaments. The STEP tournament is a progression through five tournament levels, the players start the competition by paying a $12 fee and playing at the first level tournament. The winners of the level one tournaments play at a level two tournament where the winners go on to a third level tournament and so on until the fifth and final tournament level is reached. Four of the players in the final tournament will split a pot of $20,000 (for the 20 player series) or $10,000 (for the 10 player series).
Different bonuses are available at Party Poker depending on whether they are new to the room or if they are members. New players are given a welcome bonus of $25 in bonus money for simply making a small deposit, those choosing to make larger deposits are given 20% of the deposit value in bonus money ($100 is the maximum given).
